In 2006
Senator Wilbert Keon presented a motion in the Federal Senate which was voted upon and accepted, forever marking May 12th in Canada. We now have an official day.
In 2007
FM-CFS Canada has asked an MP in the House of Commons to propose a May 12th 'motion' which would be voted upon to pass, to raise the profile of the illnesses among current MPs. A motion is stronger than an MP's statement which does not require a vote, and builds upon the milestone 1996 'statement' by an MP for the National ME/FM Action Network. We invite you to contact MPs to ask for their support of a 'motion' to recognise May 12th as our day.
