Fallon is ten years old and suffers from SFC

I present you my youngest daughter and her battle with the SFC ………. She is only ten years old.

Fallon fell 7 feet off a playground playground equipment. She temporarily lost any sensation on the left side of her body, suffered severe bruising on her spine and suffered shock. She has never been the same again. Fallon suffers daily horrible headaches ……… we consulted all possible doctors so that they could explain to us why his condition was getting worse rather than better.

Within a year of the accident, Fallon began to experience varying pains that we could not explain, such as a fall. Fallon woke up more exhausted than when she lay down. The doctors could not help ……… they had no clue or they told him to try a little harder and ignored his complaints.

We were very frustrated, we spent so much time with doctors and specialists. They did all the known tests ………. despite everything, Fallon was getting worse every day. Poor Fallon, she had to take all kinds of medicine to help with her sleep ………….. this only worsened her condition and the headaches also got worse.

Finally we were referred to Dr. Brian Feldman of the Bloorvie MacMillan Children’s Center in Toronto. After an intense history and complete review ………. we were told that there was something wrong ………. Fallon suffers from Idiopathic Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

What is Fibromyalgia?

I would like to say that we were relieved to finally have a diagnosis ……… but all I can feel when I look at Fallon ………. is the fear and great sadness. After the 2 hour drive home to find my 4 other children, I waited for everything to be quiet at home and I cried.

There is no cure for the SFC ………. there is a vast disagreement as to the treatments.

Fallon’s condition is getting worse all the time. The fatigue is aggressive, she has more and more pain and she loses weight because she does not eat almost ……….. she misses a lot of school and is very depressive. There is a misconception that this is ‘all in the head’. This annoys me so much !!!

As a mom, Fallon comes to see me so tired and pained. She tries to make me understand; she puts my hand on her wrist or leg while expecting me to feel what she feels …………. and hope I can ‘do something’. That’s what mothers do, right? We heal bumps and bruises, repair broken toys and listen to our children in their victories and disappointments.

To all who read this ………. how would you feel if your child would come to you because he NEEDS that you help him ……… and there is Nothing you can do. There is no magic bullet and no time frame to tell him that everything will improve.

We are ready to do everything for our children ………… but what to do when we can NOTHING?

Fallon could be any child ……….. she likes Berenstain Bears, Hillary Duff and N64 ……….. she loves arts and crafts as well as perfect with ice cream.

Her beautiful blue eyes shine when she has a good day and she has a beautiful smile ……… and then she tells you how tired she is.
