I am a 45 yr old mother of 4. My 16 yr old son had a childhood stroke, that left him severely dyslexic, short term memory problems, receptive expressive language disorder.
I also have a 6 yr old. 4 years ago I was on my way to work as a care aide at a long term care home in Burnaby BC, when I was hit almost head on by a two females driving home from an all night party.
Well needless to say I was in pretty rough shape but I went through all the therapies, even tried a back to work programme for 6 months and I still was in severe pain.
I went to two different neurologists, I was tested for MS, Lupis, saw a pain management specialist, urologist you name it. I saw them all.
Finally after three years I went to see a rheumatologist, finally a diagnosis: FIBROMYALGIA. Well, now I know what I have, what do I do about it?
Thanks to Fibrohugs.com I have lots of support. I've gained 60 lbs because of lack of activities due to pain. I'm hanging in there though, my days seem almost impossible to get through but as a mother I have to keep going. I take sleeping pills to sleep, antidepressant for mood, flexaril for muscle spasm, pantaloc for my stomach problems because of too much advil (up to 10 a day). I have very low tolerance to medication that may be a blessing, at least I won't get hooked on pain killers.
Well that's me in a nutshell, thanks for listening
